Retreat East – The Smart Way to own a country retreat
July 4, 2017
Retreat East is the smart way to own a designer country retreat. It’s the trouble-free alternative for those of us longing for a country bolt hole, as well as a stunning private members club and spa. The debenture model solves the issue of a full time second-home being a hassle rather than a pleasure. Accommodation is in a range of beautiful barns set in 35 acres of organic meadowland. This is ownership of a country pad for life and beyond by asset-backed security, all for less than the price of a garage in London. The debenture can be passed on to a family member and when they say it’s for life that’s exactly what they mean. This is an extremely fair and generous deal for such luxury.
The debenture provides unlimited day usage, plus 10 nights included every year, forever. The initial pricing is £20,000 for barn debenture or £10,000 for a studio debenture There’s no stamp duty and no per visit fees to pay. You are free to sell, gift or bequeath your debenture. This is the smart way to own the country retreat of your dreams. Financing options are available on request for as little as £99 per month, subject to status.
At the heart of this truly spectacular and really very unique retreat is the stunningly designed Great Barn, where you can relax in comfort while perusing the papers and enjoying brunch. It’s the hub of the retreat, where you can indulge in a cocktail, meet other guests if you so desire and even partake in a game of billiards. There is a private screening room too, a beautifully designed spa and a gym. The countryside is beautiful, stunning walks and just a stones throw from fabulous beaches. Dogs are more than welcome, infant there’s even a specially designed outdoor shower for our special four legged friends, ‘Four Paws Spa’, magical and practical, every consideration has been catered for.
If it’s a spa break you’re after you will find a stunning quiet space to enjoy some beauty treatments, the massage is great, believe me the therapist was well qualified, with a wealth of experience. There is also a sauna and an ice cold shower to stimulate your senses and cleanse your body and soul. The outdoor jacuzzi is also a must, great fun in the winter too. The gym is well equipped, with state-of-the-art machinery.
The barns are extremely comfortable and thoughtfully designed, each one different from the next, the influence of Peter, from Germany and Dominic from Australia, is immediately apparent, all aspects from their origins have been incorporated into the creation of the design of the barns. They are described as ‘rural chic’ and this is exactly correct. They’re gorgeously fitted out, fully insulated for all year use, with complete privacy and everything provided. You will find crisp fresh linen on the beds, a fully-stocked fridge, and a roaring fire in the wood-burner, during the colder months, ensuring a warm and cosy atmosphere. Refresh in the over-sized showers or roll-top baths with Aesop toiletries.
The food is sourced locally wherever possible and the organic garden kitchen provides most of the vegetables, lovingly grown by Jamie Oliver’s gardener, he really does have the talent that only a man of his experience can produce, and he will help with the orchard to be planted later in the year. Your fridge can be stocked with wonderful seasonal Suffolk produce for your arrival. Collect your own freshly laid eggs for breakfast from the Retreat East flock of hens, or enjoy a springtime picnic prepared by the chef in the meadows. You can also make plans for a private dining experience, either in the privacy of your barn or in the Great Barn.
Retreat East is located in the beautiful Suffolk countryside and is set among 35 private acres for you to explore. Being just 70 minutes from London Liverpool Street, an hour from Cambridge, and 8 miles from the Heritage Coast it is easily accessible. The village of Coddenham is surrounded by miles and miles of public footpaths and is ideal for those of you who enjoy cycling or walking.
We had the most idyllic stay in a truly fabulous barn, our breakfast lunch and dinner had all been provided for us and with a fridge full of Suffolk Proseco and cider, locally produced milk, a variety of cheeses, jams, sauces, we were well catered for. This was arranged with one simple phone call and our requests were met beautifully.
We took our seven month old puppy with us and he enjoyed the freedom of the grounds with stunning natural meadows. The feeling of space and clean air instills a feeling of complete relaxation.
The debenture scheme is without a doubt a great way to own part of a luxury country retreat without the hassle and at a minimal cost, for a lifetime.
