Puento Romano, Marbella –A Paradise for the Senses

April 15, 2019

Family-friendly with a chic and stylish vibe, Puente Romano, Marbella is a fashionable and sunny beach resort on the southern coast of Spain. Picture perfect, resembling a meandering, whitewashed Andalusian village, Puente Romano sits on the beautiful beachfront between Marbella and Puerto Banus; an experiential destination ideal for those seeking delicious food, active living and a sense of authentic Marbella.

The first thing you notice when you arrive is the lively and historic plaza that lies at the heart of this resort. Surrounded by the verdant and tropical, if feels as if you have stumbled into an emperor’s lair; there are over 400 different species of plants and trees, all surrounding an incredible, first-century Roman bridge.

Boasting a host of impressive facilities alongside its breath-taking views, there is plenty to do. Here you will find a private golf course, a Six Senses spa, an incredible tennis centre (with 10 courts and on demand lessons), mini-golf course and three spacious, outdoor swimming pools.

The stand out though, amongst everything else, is the vast array of dining options. Offering a selection of fourteen restaurants, bars and an exclusive nightclub, there is truly something here for all tastes and travellers. From Michelin-Star fine dining, bistro style tapas, contemporary French cuisine, a gluten-free café and Italian, to world famous Japanese fusion at Nobu and market fresh Mediterranean fare, this hotel is pure foodie heaven.

The Sea Grill should be your first stop. Located just steps from the sea, run by head chef, Thomas Stork, here is simple Mediterranean food done exceptionally well – think grilled meats and delectable seafood complemented by delicious, locally sourced produce. Deliciously stylish, offering stunning views of the nearby Mediterranean, guests can spend the day at the beach or pool and then wander in to the Sea Grill for one of those long rose-fuelled lunches for which Spain is so famous.

The star of the epicurean show is Spanish superstar chef Dani Garcia’s namesake restaurant, recently awarded its third Michelin Star. Exploring a contrast of textures and flavours in his Spanish dishes, the highly seasonal menu incorporates avant-garde components such as smoked eel shavings and frozen tomato powder. A step away, under the lights of La Plaza, sits chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s world acclaimed, eponymous restaurant. Helmed by the brand’s first female Executive Chef, Eleni Manousou, who artfully composes their globally beloved Japanese-Peruvian signature dishes, as well as special creations inspired by Andalusia itself.

La Plaza Village itself is the buzzy nucleus of this resort, an open-plan galleria where locals and guests come together for music, cocktails and food. Surrounded by Thai Gallery, BIBI, Dani Garcia, Nobu, Serafina and Monkey Club, it has a buzzy, urbane vibe. An eclectic mix of people, nationalities and ages, only adds to the experience.

Passionate about its intention to create the perfect journey, and brand new this spring, the resort is introducing a curated selection of ultra-luxe, personalised experiences. Taking advantage of the area’s soaring mountain peaks, turquoise waters and golden sands, guests are able to choose from a selection of innovative, exciting, and challenging activities.

Once in a lifetime offerings include a helicopter trip to Madrid to spend the day with two former Atletico players before watching a match, a supercar race day around the famous Monteblanco circuit, learning to mix club music with a famous DJ VIP party night at the resort’s own La Suite nightclub, private dinner cooked by chef Dani Garcia in your own villa, a sushi making class with Nobu’s head chef, learning to fence with one of the former actresses from the Mask of Zorro (a great family activity enjoyed by children as young as three) and tennis lovers can perfect their serve with one-to-one lessons by world-class coach David Sanchez.

Boasting newly renovated luxury suites, professional-level sporting facilities and world-class cuisine across 14 restaurants, ranging from chic cafes to multi Michelin-starred eateries, all set amidst lush gardens in the heart of the Golden Mile, Puente Romano holds a unique draw for guests seeking the next level of luxury in their holiday. The possibilities are infinite – as Marbella’s best resort endeavours to grant guests’ every wish.
